Your Journey

Day One - Arrival & welcome

AYUBOWAN!  This is a typical local greeting you will experience wherever you travel in Sri Lanka. Our airport manager welcomes you with a flower garland at the Colombo Airport, arrival lounge. He will then introduce you to your guide and escort you to your vehicle. We proceed directly to the resort, to rid yourself from jetlag and spend some lazy hours relaxing to the comforts at the resort.

Day Two - Makandhura, Kandy

After breakfast, check out and we proceed to the central highlands, which is famous for its endless scenic landscape and for the Knuckles mountain range and nature reserve.  Mountain bike ride across the rural village of Meemure and other surrounding villages exploring the village life and beautiful landscape.

During the evening, please keep some time to discuss your programme to the Knuckles mountain range with your naturalist

Day Three - Trekking to the Knuckles Mountain Range

After an early breakfast, we embark on an adventurous journey to the Knuckles mountain Range with your naturalist who will discuss your programme the previous day.  At higher elevations, there is a series of isolated cloud forests, harbouring a variety of flora and fauna, some of which cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

Day Four - Kandy - Tea Factory Visit

After breakfast, we will continue our journey towards Ambewela through the village of Ulapane. The journey lies through amazing landscape along the Kotmale Reservoir avoiding the hustle and bustle of the main routes. En route we will make a stop at the Rothschild Tea Factory to learn a bit about the history of Ceylon tea. Thereafter we will proceed to Mas Villa for Lunch. After a scrumptious lunch, we then head towards Ambewela in time for the check in at the Bungalow.

Day Five - Horton Plains - Ambewela Trekking

Early morning with a packed breakfast we will proceed to Horton plains where we will conduct a trek to the Worlds End and Bakers Falls across Horton Plains.  This National Park on Sri Lanka’s highest plateau over 2100m above sea level in the central mountains is a strange and tranquil region with an astounding variety of scenery.  After lunch, you have the option of trekking around the Bungalow.

Day Six - Train Journey to Haputale and Yala

After leisurely breakfast, spend time at leisure or you are free to wonder around the surrounding area. Thereafter board the train from Ambewela station and conduct scenic train ride to Haputale.  This is one of the most scenic train rides in Asia.

Day Seven - Bundala National Park & game drive to Yala

We proceed early morning to the Bundala National Park, which is popular for birdlife. We could take a picnic breakfast with us or retune back to the resort for breakfast.

The journey continues to Yala National Park for an experience of epic proportions that brings you up, close and personal with untamed wildlife.  Sri Lanka’s most known national park is popular for Elephant, Leopard, Bear, Crocodile and Wild Boar.

Day Eight - Final game drive to Yala & proceed to Matara

Early morning, we will proceed to conduct our final game drive for the tour at the Yala National Park. Thereafter we will return to the resort in time for breakfast.  After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to the coastal town of Galle.  Located on the southwest tip of the Island, Galle has a rich history dating back to the era where Cinnamon was traded by the Arab traders in the 8th century.

Day Nine - Whale watching, Mirissa & walking tour of the Fortress

Early morning, we proceed to Mirissa for a “Whale watching experience”, the sea between Mirissa and Dondra at 10 nautical miles is amazingly dense with Blue whales from December to April.  Relax at the resort at your leisure before visiting the “living fortress” of Galle, and enjoy a walking tour.

Day Ten - Departure or extend your stay on the south coast

After breakfast, proceed to the airport in time for departure or extend your stay on the south coast of Sri Lanka.
