This historic resort, the oldest in Sri Lanka, is steeped in old-world charm and brimming with natural romance.

Exuding an air of grandeur, the enchanting Amangalla lies at the heart of the 17th-century Dutch fort of Galle. Now a UNESCO-protected site, the fort is the best-preserved colonial fortification in Asia.

Beyond the old-world bustle of this remarkable citadel, lie emerald-green tea plantations, tranquil temples and the exhilarating prospect of whale-spotting from November to March.

Amangalla is equally renowned for purifying, personalised Ayurveda in its spa complex, The Baths, which recaptures a bygone era of taking the waters as a restoration for body and mind.
Rejuvenate in the hydrotherapy chambers, defined by candlelit recesses, tall ceilings and dramatic archways.

Centred within Amangalla’s spectacular mature gardens is a superb 21 metre swimming pool. The tranquil pool courtyard features five shaded pavilions where you can relax and immerse yourself in the calm and serene surroundings.

Facilities

Amangalla is famous for its spa complex, The Baths, and its onsite Ayurveda specialist.

A natural approach to healing, Ayurveda aims to cleanse and detoxify the body and balance the doshas. In The Baths, five treatment rooms are home to a range of therapies, which can be personalised by the spa’s Ayurvedic doctor to include massages, anointments, reflexology and scrubs. The two hydrotherapy suites contain hot and cold plunge pools, as well as steam rooms and saunas, and a yoga pavilion.
