The ideal base from which to explore Tuscany and that enchanting, authentic local experience.

Tuscany breathes romance and serenity with its undulating hills, vineyards and cypress-lined olive groves, and within the heart of Chianti country lies Castello del Nero Hotel and Spa, a five-star luxury retreat from where guests can truly experience the majesty of this region.
An easy 30-minute drive away from the stunning trio of beauties - Florence, San Gimignano and Siena - this 12th century castle-converted-hotel is a perfect retreat to soak up some of the most revered and delightfully iconic vistas in Italy.

A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, the hotel is home to 50 opulent suites and bedrooms, which strike the perfect balance between offering modern facilities and maintaining period features, and of course, showcase that quintessential Tuscan view.

The hotel offers some truly exceptional indulgent treats. For foodies, there’s two superb restaurants: La Taverna is more informal, with a menu of typical Tuscan dishes and La Torre is the hotel's elegant Michelin-starred restaurant, housed in the former stables. Both restaurants offer exceptional classic and vegetarian tasting menus and an award-winning wine list. For pampering and relaxation, there is also their destination ESPA spa.

Lap up la dolce vita.

The COMO Shambhala Retreat is the largest ESPA centre in Italy and offers a cocooning sanctuary for therapeutic treatments including thermal suites, massage, yoga, rebalancing mindful massages, soothing sleep rituals and cutting-edge facials. The outdoor vitality pool, complete with hydrotherapy points, is the perfect place to get rid of aches and pains.

The restaurants are a true highlight and boast a very traditional Tuscan experience by using locally-grown, organic produce. The eight-course tasting menu varies seasonally but can include scampi, octopus, turbot, and scallops; ending with with pastries delivered in a wooden jewellery box. Guests can expand their gastronomic stay by taking part in a cookery class with master chef, Mr Di Pirro. The ‘All About Pasta’ class is unforgivably Italian and includes lunch after a workshop

The grounds, home to wild boar, pheasants and deer, seem to stretch on forever and the hotel has created kilometres of criss-cross trails for running, hiking, walking and cycling. Tennis, gym and an inviting outdoor swimming pool is also available.

12th-century castle rooms with layers of Renaissance frescoes.

The 50 remarkably spacious bedrooms are located in the castle and adjacent 18th-century farm buildings and most boast delightful views over the Tuscan countryside. The grandeur of the past can still be felt through the family crests, majestic frescoes and vaulted ceilings that adorn many of the rooms.

Each room is different but all feature terracotta floors, large bathrooms and some have evocative, wood-beamed ceilings for a grand Tuscan rustic elegance. The COMO Terrace Suite has its own private 50 sq m terrace – perfect for stargazing.
