Tucked away in the secluded L’Anse Aux Epines Bay, Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel is an elegant old-school Carribean resort, exuding a unique and refreshingly understated charm. Stylish and intimate, this Relais & Chรขteaux resort aims to spoil guests all day long, with cool refreshing drinks or fruit kebabs on the beach, afternoon tea in the shady lounge and canapรฉs delivered to guest rooms before dinner.
Comfortable, spacious suites are decorated in a contemporary colonial style, and have an indoor sitting area, and a good-sized terrace or balcony overlooking the lawns. Some boast plunge pools and all include breakfast served on the private terrace or on the beach. Lazy days are spent on the delightfully monikered Prickly Bay Beach or eating freshly caught fish and sipping rum punch at The Beach Club. There are many activities on offer; including touring the beautiful garden, tennis, fitness, yoga, watersports and scuba.
And if that all sounds too much, relaxation and indulgence awaits at The Spa at Calabash, which specialises in natural products and treatments.
Evenings are spent in Calabash’s signature restaurant, Rhodes, overseen by the eponymous British chef Gary Rhodes, serving fabulous food in an informal yet stunning setting.

Guests have complimentary tennis, fitness, windsurfing, sunfish, paddleboarding and snorkelling equipment available. The spa also offers guests supremely relaxing treatments, which includes the use of a spa pool, zen garden and wellness bar. Activities at an additional charge include reduced green fees at Grenada Golf Club, scuba diving, spa treatments, parasailing, deep-sea fishing and other island excursions including rainforest walks, trips to St Georgeโs market, whale watching and south coast sailing.
The food at the Calabash is consistently the best of any hotel on Grenada, and a major part of the appeal of staying here. The casual Beach Club does fantastic, gently spicy tapas-style dishes during the daytime and Gary Rhodes oversees the accomplished, carefully crafted Caribbean/international menus in the elegant, evenings-only, Rhodes Restaurant; romantically lit at night with torches.
Calabashโs suites occupy ten villas, arranged in a horseshoe within eight acres of tropical gardens. The 2 – 5 bedroom villas all have stunning sea facing views, some with direct beach access. All suites include modern and contemporary bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes, air conditioning, flat screen TV with DVD player, iPod docking station, complimentary WiFi, minibar, bathrobes, Elemis toiletries, and hot drinks facilities. Some suites also have private pools and small private gardens whilst all boast balcony or patio where breakfast is served by a personal maid.
All villas have distinctly different styles, decor and amenities but can easily compete for the accolade of best views on the island.
