The luxury COMO brand brings its Asian zen-glam swagger to South Beach, restoring the grand dame Art Deco Traymore hotel into a 74-room boutique, combining calm serenity with Miami panache.
Overlooking one of Americaโs most iconic beaches, COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach delivers a perfect blend of urban modernity and period charm by way of light-filled rooms, a COMO Shambhala Urban Spa, and leading edge interiors by the Italian designer, Paola Navone. Don’t expect blaring music here: located at the frontier of South Beach and Mid-Beach, the hotel is tucked into a quiet residential stretch of beachfront, and the hotel prides itself on the tranquil surroundings.
Dothing a cap to the predecessor, Traymore by Michael Schwartz, brings fresh Floridian flavours and bright South East Asian menus.
The building, protected by Miami Beach’s Historic Preservation Board, is a seven-block stroll from the buzz of South Beach – close enough to the action but far enough away for a truly relaxing escape.

Behind the hotel lies a long, thin, sleek pool (typical of classic art deco hotels), surrounded by plentiful loungers for soaking in some sun but it’s the huge hydrotherapy pool on the roof, with its incredible ocean views, that impresses the most.
The COMO Shambhala spa offers a steam room, experience showers, and four treatment rooms. A 24-hour rooftop gym offers treadmills, lifecycles, and strength training equipment.
The Traymore restaurant, with a commitment to healthy yet flavourful cooking, offers fresh, local seafood and continental cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Traymore Gin Bar serves 30-plus artisanal gins in creative cocktails. Met Pool Restaurant and Bar is available exclusively to hotel guests, providing a casually chic break from the beach, with tables positioned among the lolling palm trees and soft green lawns at the poolโs edge.
Given the constraints of the planners, rooms in COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach are relatively small with low ceilings and the preservation of the historic property means there are no new balconies. However, fans of art deco style will appreciate the terrazzo and marble flooring with green and white decor and geometric chrome accents.
Bathrooms are pleasant with white subway tiles, a rainfall shower and divine eucalyptus and peppermint amenities.
Rooms are equipped with King beds, complimentary bottled water, a mini-bar, WiFi, coffee maker, and safe.
Our tip – Basic rooms provide no view, so upgrade to an ocean view room to wake up to the ever-changing palate of blues and greens of the water.
