The first All Inclusive resort to be named one of the Leading Hotels of the World, Royal Hideaway Playacar is situated on one of the finest beaches in Riviera Maya, just 5 minutes from bustling Playa Del Carmen.
In a prime spot in pristine white sands and tucked away amongst 13 lush green acres, this sophisticated, colonial-style property strikes a balance between boutique and rambling. Offering a myriad of activities, like water sports, private tennis lessons and excursions to nearby archeological sites, the property boasts a beach-chic elegance. Four of the five inclusive restaurants are smart attire only and across the resort, unusually for an all-inclusive, dining is almost exclusively à la carte. During the day, there’s a choice of six swimming pools, including an infinity pool with a lovely waterfall or soak up the sun on a large sun terrace with Balinese beds or on the beach. The hotel boasts a dining theatre, with dinner and entertainment together.
With just 201 rooms, there’s always a sensation of space and is an excellent option for an adults only escape.

The hotel has 6 restaurants serving international cuisine, including the Chef’s Table experience at the Las Ventanas restaurant where guests interact with the chef. This is the only option that is chargeable. There are several bars dotted around the resort and all drinks, including cocktails, are included. Hard to believe but the mojitos are fantastic.
The Royal Hideaway Spa offers seven treatment rooms and a full menu of therapeutic and beauty treatments including couples pampering. A fitness centre and two floodlit tennis courts are available as well as adventure activities and water sports. Daily activities such as dance classes and aqua aerobics are great fun and there’s musical entertainment at sundown and into the late evening. There’s also a golf course on the same complex as the hotel.
The rooms are cool and peaceful with high ceilings, whitewashed walls and hardwood furniture. Rooms are arranged in blocks and each has its own private balcony or terrace. All have free WiFi, iPod dock, TV, and a minibar stocked with complimentary beers and soft drinks. Bathrooms are spacious, with walk-in showers and spa bath. Bathroom amenities include a bathrobe, slippers and L’Occitane or Bulgari toiletries.
