Set in a tranquil private bay and surrounded by a 10-million-year-old rainforest, the The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi blends seamlessly into with its natural surroundings, overlooking the Andaman Sea. The Walkway of Wishes offers a warm welcome; a water fountain inspired by the island’s mystical granter of wishes, Tasik Dayang Bunting. Those arriving will be invited to write their desires on a flat stone, which is then placed into the water for it to come true.

The resort is home to four distinct dining venues, each overlooking the glistening Andaman Sea for striking views from sunrise to sunset. From the blend of Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisine in Langkawi Kitchen; traditional Chinese seafood in Hai Yan; westernised lunches and Thai dinner at the Beach Grill; and light Thai bites at Horizon.
The wonderful overwater spa boasts the island’s only Hammam treatments and as well as the kids pool at the Ritz Kids Club, there is a vitality pool plus a stunning adults-only infinity pool by the Horizon lounge.
The resort offers daily activities, such as yoga, mixology classes, handcraft and batik painting, soap making and cooking classes. Kayaks and paddle boards are available for sea and mangrove exploration. Guided jungle walks will reveal the myths and creatures of the surrounding rainforest.
Nearby is the legendary SkyBridge with the world’s steepest cable car and ziplining through the jungle canopy.
Spacious interiors in the 70 guest rooms, 15 suites and 29 villas are framed by delicate references to Malay architecture, which can be seen in the intricately-designed features, large windows and gabled roofs.
