Set in a tranquil private bay and surrounded by a 10-million-year-old rainforest, the The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi blends seamlessly into with its natural surroundings, overlooking the Andaman Sea. Designed to reflect traditional local Kampong villages, the resort has taken influences from local culture to create an opulent retreat with an authentic touch. Developed with as little disruption to the environment as possible, some roofs and structures have intentional holes to accommodate trees.
The Walkway of Wishes offers a warm welcome; a water fountain inspired by the islandโs mystical granter of wishes, Tasik Dayang Bunting. Those arriving will be invited to write their desires on a flat stone, which is then placed into the water for it to come true.
The standard rooms are a spacious 75mยฒ, and all feature large balconies with rainforest views. The excellent restaurants offer traditional Malay, Chinese, Thai and Indian cuisine as well as a selection of international dishes.
There is also plenty to keep everyone entertained including watersports, tennis, gym, yoga, infinity pools, various educational classes and a truly one-of-a-kind spa with treatment pavilions inspired by “bubu” fish traps. Thereโs the excellent Ritz Kids Club and plenty of chances to explore Langkawi’s diverse natural environment, including nature walks in the rainforest, and boat trips through mangroves.
