This Grand Old Dame of Miami Beach had a $1 billion facelift.

The epitome of mid-century Miami glamour, this place is as famous for its storied past as it is for being one of the hottest Miami hotels today. Frank Sinatra’s Rat Pack made it their HQ in the Fifties; Jerry Lewis filmed ‘The Bellboy’; Whitney Houston shot scenes for ‘The Bodyguard’; and many iconic shots in ‘Goldfinger’ also featured this photogenic beauty. However, it reopened in 2008 after a $1 billion restoration and the result has put it firmly back in vogue with Miami Beach’s in-crowd and many visiting celebrities. The Fontainebleau Miami Beach oozes glamour with an iconic marble bow-tie entrance and three glittering chandeliers. The lobby is anchored by the neon-pulsing Bleau Bar, a buzzing gathering place by day and night. Throw in four stellar restaurants, a gorgeous freeform pool adorned by butler-served cabanas, a glitzy nightclub and one of the most luxurious spas in town, it looks like the resort of Fontainebleau will crest the waves of Miami glamour for another 50 years.

Accommodation

Appropriately luxurious and unusually for Miami Beach, most have sea views.

1,504 rooms and suites on 37 floors in 2 buildings of the original design (Chateau & Versailles) and 2 towers with suites. Rooms are bright and sumptuous rooms in turquoise, tan and white are appropriately luxurious and appropriate. The beds are outrageously comfortable, and the oversized marble bathrooms feature impressive rainfall showers. The four towers have a distinctly different ambiance with some more suited for conference attendees (Versailles), families (Sorrento or Tresor) or party people (Chateau).
