Your Journey

Day One - Arrival & welcome

AYUBOWAN!  This is a typical local greeting you will experience wherever you travel in Sri Lanka. Our airport manager welcomes you with a flower garland at the Colombo Airport, arrival lounge. He will then introduce you to your guide and escort you to your vehicle. We proceed to a charming resort close to the airport.

Day Two - Anuradhapura

Breakfast at the resort. Check out and we proceed directly to Anuradhapura.  After check in relax, unwind and enjoy the pool/spa. This afternoon we enjoy a meditation session with a Buddhist monk followed up with an interesting visit to the Sacred Site in Anuradhapura.

Special: We will provide each client with an “Oil Lamp” so that clients get involved with locals (engagement).

Day Three - Explore the rest of Anuradhapura

After breakfast at the resort enjoy the morning before we visit the Anuradhapura archeological site exploring the amazing ‘Abhayagiriya” complex which is rich with great stories of this kingdom.  We also visit the Jetawanaramaya, which was one of the tallest man-made structures in ancient civilisation (after the great Pyramids), which is believed to have been built using 93.3million bricks.

Day Four - Proceed to Dambulla & Kap Ela Elephant Experience

After breakfast, enjoy the resort at leisure. Check out and proceed to Dambulla.  On arrival we check in before travelling across to the quaint village of Kap-Ela and get up close and personal with a domestic Sri Lankan elephant.  The concept in Kap-Ela is unique where we get an opportunity to bathe an elephant in the man-made tank, which the elephants enjoy.

Day Five - School visit, Archeological site, Farmers lunch & Minneriya Safari

After an early breakfast, we will be visiting a local rural school in the Sigiriya/Habarana area. Thereafter, we visit the second kingdom of the country, Polonnaruwa where we enjoy the archaeological site by bicycles.  Afterwards proceed to have lunch at a local farmer’s house.  In the afternoon, on route back to Sigiriya, we visit the Minneriya National Park. In a 4×4 jeep you will explore the park with a skilled park guide or naturalist who will point out wildlife to you and help you get the most of the experience.

Day Six - Alms-giving with local Monk & exploring Ritigala

After a leisurely breakfast, we travel through the interiors and meet with forest-dwelling monks and participate in an alms-giving ceremony.  A local family will prepare the simple local food, which we in return offer it to the monks prior to noon. Thereafter, we visit the Ritigala archeological reserve, which is a rarely visited site.

Day Seven - Sigiriya Fortress, Private Spice Garden & exploring Kandy

After an early breakfast, we will then head towards the 5th century Rock Fortress of Sigiriya.  Thereafter we will proceed to Kandy, which was the last stronghold of Sri Lankan monarchs. On route we also learn about the story of Sri Lankan Spices and have a spice infused Sri Lankan meal for lunch at a private spice garden. Afterwards, you can proceed to enjoy a “hands-on” cooking demonstration of Sri Lankan rice and curry. Once the food is prepared will get a chance to enjoy the delicious meal.  Enjoy the evening with a walking tour in the city of Kandy along with a brief tuk tuk experience around the Kandy lake.

Day Eight - Temple, Suriyakantha Centre of Arts & Kandyan dancing

After breakfast, we will be visiting Lankathilake Temple.  Thereafter we will visit a Kandyan dancing academy where we will enjoy a delicious local lunch prepared by the villagers. After lunch, we will enjoy an exclusive performance of Kandyan dancing.  This is the house of a generational dancing master that teaches the ancient art of dancing in his backyard to young keen students.

Day Nine - Kandy to Galle

Breakfast at the resort. Check out and travel to Galle, the south of the Island. Enjoy a walking tour of the Galle Fortress at your leisure, understanding its history, secrets and amazing architectural elements.

Day Ten - Beach extension or Maldives
